They were men and women, they had hair, and eyes, and limbs, and mouths and yet…they were more. They were the streets and buildings, the monuments and markets, the palaces and the sewers, the poor and rich, all locked together in a deceptively human form. They were the cities. Any other grand title they shrugged off. They had no need of titles.(x)”
